Enter 90 in the RotX column. 5) The model also needs to be scaled down. Make sure the Link Scale button is checked and enter 0.05 in the ScaleX column (ScaleY and ScaleZ should also change). It should look like this - [ image disabled ] 6) Make sure the whole model is selected and go to Edit Mode. 7) In the bottom panel go to the Mesh Tools section. Make sure all the vertices in the model are selected and click Rem Doubles. [ image disabled ] 8) Save the file as a Blender file (.blend) and you should be ready to go! 9) If you want to reduce the poly count, have an experiment with the Decimate modifier. Go to object mode and make sure the model is selected. In the Modifiers tab at the bottom, click Add Modifier and select Decimate. Adjust the Ratio using the arrow buttons until you start to lose detail. I find between 0.5 and 0.6 is good. If strange artifacts appear than go back 'up a level', or if its only a couple of points you can manually edit the mesh [ Edited Mon Jan 21 2008, 03:23PM ] | ||

![]() ![]() Registered Member #2 Posts: 16 | Here's a tutorial for importing OBJ files from this site. Blender is a bit funny about these and doesn't seem to create an object for the imported model (it imports the vertex / face info only). Create a blank blender file with nothing in it. In the 3d view window create a Plane object - press space to bring up the menu, then select Plane. Now go to Vertex editing mode. Press a to make sure all vertices are selected (they should go pink) Now in the 3d view press Delete. Select 'Vertices' from the menu. Everything should have disappeared. What's the point of this? Read on! Now import the model file (for example privet1.obj). When it imports it doesn't actually create an object for the import (only the Object menu is available, not Edit etc. if you try this without creating the Plane above first!) (File -> Import -> .obj). Now press a a couple of times to make sure everything is unselected, then press a again to make sure everything is. Press Ctrl-J to join the Plane to the imported model. It can now be edited! Save it as a .blend file before continuing. To see if it worked, close Blender and re-open the file. If it worked then Edit Mode should be available.
